Packing can be a bit overwhelming. What to take, how many, and what you can’t do without. Yes, I have had this issue many times, but becoming more minimal has helped with the hustle and bustle of packing. I’m going to share with you how I took one backpack on a 4 day trip to Hawaii and share some tips to help you pack lighter!
First things first, get the backpack or suite case that you will be traveling with. Make sure all the
compartments are empty and clean. You don’t need that old sticky peppermint getting all over your clothes. Also, a travels bag can be handy to have when you’re on the go, instead of trying to carry a purse. You may put them aside for now.
Let’s get down to business. Take a look at the weather for the place you’re traveling. Get the items
you’ll need for the climate. Sticking to neutral colors gives you the ability to mix and match. When it comes to packing shoes, we can overdo it, but two pairs are more than enough. Pack a pair of gym shoes for walking though the mall or through the rainforest is a good idea. Then a pair of cute boots, flats, or sandals for a more dresser look. Don’t put anything in the bag, we will save this till the end.
Toiletries and makeup. Using one product that has many uses makes life easier. Like coconut oil, it
removes makeup, moisturizes your skin, and is even used for brushing teeth! A national makeup
palette can be used on your eyes to highlight your cheekbones and fill in your brows. Yes girl!!!
Solid bar product like shampoos, conditioners, face wash, and lotion make getting through TSA a
breeze; no 3 oz needed.
Lastly, grab whatever electrical devices, headphones, and books you may need, but asks yourself,
“Am I going to read this book or will I watch movies or listen to music on my phone?” Less is
better when packing. Don't forget the power cords. If you’re going to be traveling a long distance, a neck pillow and blanket may be needed.
With everything laid out in front of you, take your clothes and roll them up like a burrito. Opt not to fold your clothes; it will save you space! Put underwear and socks inside shoes to fill empty space. Place the bulky stuff in first like your shoes and coats. Then your burrito clothes, along with your toiletry bag. Put cords in easy access pockets. Zip that baby up and you’re ready to go!
